Just bought this coin off eBay and wanted to share it with you guys, then i want others to share their newest addition to their collections, like a show and tell of sorts but only those willing to share of course. Its a 1971-D Eisenhower dollar FEV RDV-006 not attributed on the holder, I saw it listed and recognized the variety immediately almost killed me waiting for the auction to end. The Reverse Friendly Eagle Variety is called so because upon close inspection the most notable feature of the variety is the absence of a strong furrowed brow along the top of the eagles eye, although not the only determining factor. Mintage estimates are varied but the Ike group and other major resources put it right around 500,000 coins although they went unnoticed until recently making them quite rare. The FEV variety Eisenhower dollar was just included in the red book which i believe will bring more exposure and higher values in the future. The coin will be off to PCGS soon to be re-slabbed with the proper attribution good luck and looking forward to seeing other awesome coins, this type of thread has been done before at other coin forums.

PCGS population of 5 with only 71 coins grading higher just to give you an idea of relative rarity.......

Nothing special but I plan on picking up a couple new coins soon. A 1950D BU Jefferson caught my eye at the LCS about a month ago and I can't help but go back and get it. It had a slight toning to it.
Here's the last I bought.

Those scratches on the ASE are on the capsule. It was the only one I had at the time.

I just read your whole post after posting my pics. Good score on the Ike. I was just recently reading about this variety and I've been on the lookout for one as well. I would like to find one that hasn't been attributed like you did. Could you post a close up pic of the reverse? Maybe one of just the eagles head and another of the earth? Cool coin!

Found this in a roll last night. Nothing special but it goes with the thread theme.

If you look hard enough you can find one just like i did, I have also cherry picked a MS65 as well. If you click on the reverse image it should re-direct you to another page, If you then click the reverse image again it will zoom in quite a bit. Instead of writing up a lengthy post on how to attribute one of these coins i will give you the most detailed link on the web on the variety, link below enjoy......

1971-D Friendly Eagle Variety | The Ike Group

Just picked this one up last night. SBA near date/wide rim.

Also a 40% Kennedy and a 1952 Franklin.
Got these in a trade to a coworker. He said he had some old coins and I could look through them and see if there were any I wanted.

Was browsing eBay the other night and came across this 1982-P no fg Kennedy half not attributed on the holder. As you can see on the obverse the serifs on the 1 in the date have been polished off along with the serifs on the R in LIBERTY. On the reverse you can see the designers initials are completely gone without a trace and also the very obvious die polish in the fields most notably to the right of the arrows in the eagles claw....

Pcgs pop reports show...... 70 coins graded at MS64 with 465 coins graded higher.....

Untitled.png Don't have the coin in hand just yet, but it's a 1942 S "dollar sign" Jefferson warnic. As you can see, there is a die crack directly behind the mm which turns the "S" into a "$". Stumbled across it with just 5 minutes left to buy, couldn't find much of anything online about it in that short amount of time (and still can't--is anyone familiar with this error type?) but decided it was cool and that I wanted it, and so now it's mine and that's the way I buy. Maybe someday it will be worth something, but for now it will be an interesting part of my collection.

That's my latest buy. Bought it at a coin show a couple weeks ago. Well I have bought a BU 1932 wheat since then just haven't got around to taking a photo yet.

Bought these for 2 bucks at a coin store

Recent addition to my collection is the 1937 75th Commemoration of the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg). Further reading on the Battle for those who are interested - The Battle of Antietam Summary & Facts | Civilwar.org

I once was the proud owner of this little gem but it has since found a better home........

Very nice Boone half dollar. It really is a gem. I have quite a few of the classics, but my next addition will be an Old Spanish Trail. This coming FUN will be my best chance. Last winter FUN, there were no acceptable OST available.

This is my latest addition to collection- 1881 CC MS64+. I bought the coin unslabbed a few months ago and just got it back from NGC yesterday! I wasn't really expecting the +, so I was pumped to see that! NGC is running their "retro holder" promotion right now so I though what the heck!
