Sleepy's Most Wanted (Roosevelt Dimes)

After having searched through $7,110 worth of dimes, I figured I'd get a Whitman Coin book (1946-1964 Dimes). I'm going to make it my goal to fill it by the end of the year! To the right is my "Most Wanted" List to help keep track of my progress. I want all of my finds to be from CRHing, so I won't be purchasing any of them. Here goes nothing! :headbang: 1)1955

Record Setting Box Delivers Find Number 29

Friday
I found a record setting 4 dimes in one box today, including a 1956. Not only did I find my best dime box (in terms of volume), but I also got my first teller tray find today. It was a Georgia Quarter! :headbang: Man, was that exciting.

Saturday
It feels pretty good to fill two holes in two days! The Most Wanted List is down to 18 coins, 13 of which reside in the top 15. I'd like to find at least one top 15 dime by the end of the month. Oh, and I also found this other crazy coin.

Great thread, SH. I bought a Whitman folder 4 years ago and am trying to do the same thing. I will share some of my progress here too.

I only need 5 S-mints and 1 D-mint. On your list they would be: 5), 6), 7), 8), 10), and 12).
Somehow I've found 3 49S, 2 55D, and 2 55S. I am up to 650ish silver FDRs now and it may take another 650 silver FDRs to complete the set.

My best box so far has 28 silver dimes in it.

Wish the best,

Halfway Point Reached in the Search for Sleepy's Most Wanted

Friday

Tried pushing the dime volume higher for the second straight day. Today was my highest volume of dimes yet with $1550 searched. I know I'm at the halfway point in terms of quantity, but I also understand that I still have quite a bit of work cut out for me in terms of the Category 1 finds.

The Israeli coin is a 1 sheqel, if it says "new sheqel" on the bottom. If not, it's a 1 agora.

Looks like it's 90% silver! Win! Thanks for pointing that one out, Thorne. I did some research and it looks like 2M were minted in 1961. A slabbed MS64 went for $10.50 on ebay. The one that looked closest to mine went for $4.72. Kind of a strange spread there, but whatever...Thanks.

The Dominican dime is only worth melt, it is the same amount of silver as a US silver dime.

I think I have a new official best box. Today's Box 6 brought a record tying 4 silver dimes; however, this box had a MERC and 2 foreigns which gives it the tie-breaker. Man, tough crowd today...you figure, you go out and up the daily dime volume record by $50 and you'd see some good results. 8 outta 10 boxes skunks?!? Well, it's off to the next carrier for these non-compliant dimes! :icon_salut: On a side note, i DID find a handful of coins at a coin counter today. Pictures ensue...

The German coins are very low value, but still neat. Belgium no longer uses francs, and coins were only convertible into euros before 2005. It is worth a $1 or so in collectors value though.

Thanks for the heads up, Sag. I used some currency converter via Google, but I guess that's out of date...by at least 8 years! :laughing7:

The currency converters just use the conversion rate from when the coins are exchangeable, mainly because bills are still exchangeable (and will be for the rest of time).
