18K gold, a few ices are missing, will have to test them...

Nice 26g 18k, very heavy, yellow and white gold. The yellow gold rotates on the white gold.

I've paid my new Iphone this morning... :icon_thumright:

Those 2 rings where found at -7m, scuba diving with CTX 3030. After a long period of sandy condition, the heavy rain and wind have washed the underwater surface....

Nice Rings ---------But the ctx if my memory serves me right is good for 3 meters and you had it to 7 meters with out leaking ?????
Many ctx seem to leak at 1 meter???????

I would not even go under water with a CTX...
I would hunt knee high water only...
Waterproofed or not.
Tis meant to wistand a "dropped in water" scenario as far as I am concerned...
It like when it comes to watches...
I feel that detectors that are like the ctx in water depth ratings...
IS like saying "water resistant" on a watch..
Sure you can get em wet...SOME times...
But you do not buy a watch for diving that is "water resistant" ...
You buy one rated for real depths... THEN YOU KNOW...
It is designed for the pressure that water will asses/tax on it...
EVEN at 7 feet... Sheesh 3 feet even.

You are ABSOLUTLY right, I totally agree. Thanks for remaining on the dry sand with your CTX and let me take the risks (and the finds :laughing7:) in the water!

CTX is the most advance VLF machine, 3m or 10m there's not a lot of difference. 3m depth specs are mainly due to the M-12 connector certification and the USB sealing certification. 10m depth = 1bar, a dive is around 1h30-2h max so no big deal.
For deeper detection, I use my heavy modified Excal, it performs well on non trashy area and the CTX 3030 for trashy area = the cost or the back of the beach :tongue3:

Errr. I was thinking the 3030 had depth rating... wrong detector I guess.
Sorry :)

I never pay attention to other detectors... the specs and such...
Rarely read about any...
Was thinking this detector had 10 foot rating.
IF it aint water proof... I do not buy it...
Or even look.

CTX is like the ATX (which is even worse to what I've heard), rated up to 3m depth. But you can google around and see that it can even leak while having a shower.

Now beeing an Excalibur Fan, I don't use my CTX underwater just to have fun. Technicaly, there is no possible comparaison between both machines. Excal with an Anderson short scuba shaft is build to detect underwater, very easy to handle, no problems. CTX is difficult to handle underwater and if you want to use the coilteck coil, it's even worse....BUT, beceause there is a BUT : the CTX 3030 is a VLF beast, try it one time and you will understand what I mean.

Wait... let me clarify ... NEW
I will buy used detectors and have owned at prolly close or over 20 that are not waterproof...
Did buy a whites tm808 cache once new ...
and a SOV new...
But sold both...
all other NON waterproof have been used.

Nice finds and mod on the CTX. The gold ring is called a spinner.

My hat is off to you for moding and chancing deep sixing an expensive detector!!
95% of my detecting is diving, so I stay with my Excal, and Infiinium. Now I will take a look at the 3030!!!

IF I ran up on one for a good deal.. I will buy one just because I love detectors and trying them out...
IF they suck or just do not "make the cut" ... I resell... most of the time for exactly what I pay for them...
And sometimes... like the last one I sold...(garrett GTI 2500 w/2 coils) I made a profit.
AND that machine actually was a kick ass machine.

And I might add... so anyone rteading this and sees one for sale...
BUY IT...
I wish I had not sold it...
I will put that machine against any out there.
Kick ass coin machine

Underwater detection means you change on regular basis all the gaskets and get ride of potential leaking points. You might also change a few plugs or update them like I do by replacing the stock plugs by professionals ones from Fischer Connectors or Birns aquamat. I recently acquired a used Aquapulse AQ1B and changed almost every sensitive pieces on it.

My JW has never been serviced... and is just about due now for her first service...

She has spent a great deal of time collecting dust all these years...

I owned 2 Excal 2's of the 1st shipment into the U.S...
Beat the crap outta them... used and abused em... and sold em when they were still only retailing for 1300...
Then bought the one I use today.

You're a lucky guy! As a diver, I always service myself all my equipments, except my rebreather for deep inspection. I prefer to take care an tunned my equipments to meet my standards.. If you don't want to service your detecor, forget about the CTX! It takes a least 10 minute preparation before diving, 20 minutes to shower and clean every plug after a hunt. About 30 minutes more each time i have to charge the battery and reaseal the O'ring...enven more when I have to unseal and reseal the USB cap when I need to connect it to my computer.

I also service my own equipment... from detectors to gear.
As far as "deep inspection"...
I am a compressor diver...
I had to learn early on...
I am the only "deep inspection" I will ever have.
Fail to keep right...
And I might not be making any more inspections on anything.

Glad to meet other divers!

CTX is not as easy as the Excal underwater. It's far more powerfull but it'll kill your arm for sure. Do not be afraid to dive with it, my record is -12m depth, I was following a great path and didn't took care of the depth; CTX has survived but it's not an experience to repeat.
I think the screen and the speaker are the next point of failure.
