Firstly & most importantly thanks to Land-Mag our silent but deadly partner. Although you don't see him post much, what you also don't see is his tireless research & Land-Owner networking efforts which can often takes years to turn into permissions. With him & our reputation we have built one of the largest Farm portfolios for any UK independent detecting team. That achievement should not be over-looked.
Below shows what has been a strong year but with a few mixed results;

2014 - 1557
2015 - 1255
2016 - 1277

Total Hours - Me; 572.5hrs Cru'Dad; 526.75hrs - I detected on 118 separate days.
Combined Total; 1099.25hrs

I think it's important to point out that to continue to get 1000+ Roman Coins year on year when there is a 1000 less than before goes to prove what an art form the team has become. I feel we are at the top of our game & can't do very many more improvements other than upping our hours which is not a viable option if Cru'dad is to remain married.
 This kind of success is for the most part down to Cru'Dads massive database of stats (Takes time to make & maintain). We use them to surgically strike at the right field at the right time, which is very important when digging mostly ploughed land. He also scouts out the options whilst I'm at work ensuring the the Deus's time is best spent.
Moving on....
It's been a record year in the following areas;
Celtic Bronze
Celtic Silver
Roman Silver

Disappointing that we had zero in;
Celtic Gold
Saxon/Viking/Norman

However, to make up for the lack of Gold Celtic coins Cru'Dad made it up with 2 other Gold Coins below.
I got the banner find with an amazing Viking Brooch.
I filled a Wish List coin of a Spanish Silver, then a 2nd!
We continue to work with the Archies & British Museum to report hundreds of Roman Coins, some of which have been Extremely Rare.
So, it's the time of year to not only reflect but to look forward & think 'HOW THE HELL WILL WE BEAT THAT!'
:metaldetector:
Ps. Also include the tub of scrap buttons.

Hoard (Not fussy which period) is Wish List No.1
Funny how many first timers or beginners get these.:censored:

Cru,

Quite the haul of coins and artifacts for 2016 all the best for 2017 and beyond.

Regards + HH

Bill

Ya' know Cru, I've actually stopped reading some of your posts in the past, as they're always such wonderful finds that I sometimes find I'm not as excited for other folks finds afterwards. Your post this time is spot-on!! You DO have an amazing team, and I salute you, sir, for taking the time and effort to include them as you have. Hope you find that Saxon hoard!! :notworthy:

I try to imagine what your home museum must look like but I feel it surpasses my imagination by at least ten fold :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

I've always respected the effort you put into picking out the gems from others junk. I've always thought you could be close to doing it full time as a job/hobby.

Outstanding results , congrats to the whole team , looking forward to what 2017 will bring .. cheers Mick

THANKS to everyone's comments & encouragement.

It will really take some stiff planning to even maintain this result. Anyone, can have a great year, but not everyone can repeat it year after year. Although, we are pretty constant we can only ride this wave for so long, & I know I'm wondering when our system will waiver.

That is a truck load of "results". But you certainly worked for them with the research, and the 1100 man hours.
I'd like to know what the equals in miles walked, and # of holes dug.

You got some sharp condition silvers this year, and the tiny pony coin is superb.

Was just thinking those results could look a tad neeter with a couple of minutes with a spread sheet.
Here's two minutes with a free office program.

Hey (light bulb goes on) I should do that for myself too.....some day I'm not so busy, right.

I suppose you'll be out there again tomorrow. Good Luck if you do.

Cru team. Your whole season should get a banner. The research is key for successful hunting
And yours is spot on it seems. The research alone is banner worthy. Great job I read your posts and try the
" do what he does " approach. Read. Investigate. Then pound the good site still they cry coins. Lol
Happy hunting good luck in 2017. The coins are amazing. The relics tell stories themselves. Weapons, jewellery
Wow is the best word I can comes up with. Cheers.

That's it ?

That's all you found... sheesh.

:P

:)

I have to hand it to you man.
Your finds are inspirational to all those who detect.

Hats off... well done... and congrats from across the pond.

Hope you have another good new year.

We had over 2000 recoardable items & over 1000 buttons, so I would say we dug 25,000 holes but no idea what that is in miles.

Incredible year man :occasion14: Your team is absolutely at the top of your game and surely you can attribute the continued success, as fewer and fewer Romans are in the dirt, to that ever growing site portfolio. Adding new sites that you guys haven't had your way with yet, must be keeping those insane totals high :laughing7: I'm always impressed at how well you guys keep your statistics too. Lots of info can be pulled from those numbers based on time spent and site, to really determine where efforts are best focused. Just beyond impressed all around. Happy New Year man and best of luck in 2017

Fantastic finds as is your norm, and great year-to-year statistics. I have one question. What is the radius of your hunt area, or the furthest you typically drive?

Your finds are out of my league, not even sure what half the stuff is I'm looking at. I know it's old and things I'll never find. Lol
The history and the knowledge of your finds you have is unbelievable!!
Congrats on a super year!!
