I found this stamp on an early 18th Century site. There are no visible markings on it. It is gold plated and has a Sheaf of Wheat on it. I found a similar one on a web site by silversmith Hester Bateman 1708-1794. Does anyone here know about wax seal stamps?
The wheat sheaf, or garb, is loaded with symbolism. That amber grain bundle is symbolic of one reaping life’s bountiful harvest and that the harvest of ones hopes have been secured. It represents prosperity and wealth, industry enriches. It also represents an abundance of love and friendship.
