Hi all,
They're saying it could get to 104 degrees today. I went out right after the kids left for school so I could beat the heat. First I went out to the ball fields and checked the grass near the concession stand. I hunted that area to death a few months ago, but was able to pick up close to $5 in quarters.
Next I headed to the park to check the sand areas that had swings etc. and found tons of pennies, along with a few dimes and a quarter or two. At the end of the sand pit there was this big tree, so I checked around it and found the biggest thing I've ever pulled up so far..a full sized shovel!
I was surprised to see one of the pennies I found was a wheat..a '58-D. It was so clean that I think it was amongst the hoard I found in the sand at the park..there must have been 20 or more all in one place. Apparently some older coins are still in circulation.
I was done by 10:30, so in about 2 hours I found 114 coins..19 quarters, 8 dimes, 4 nickels, and 83 pennies, including the wheat.
HH,
Nat
