spear point??Hey guys needing a lil help here. I found this in se Minnesota just off the Mississippi River. It seems to be a copper arrowhead or spear point I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is and its possible age. thanks
Looks like an absolutely awesome find. Is there any museum near you that might have an idea? It could very well be an indian copper culture point. No clue here but I hope someone knows. Thanks for sharing
That thing is bad ass dude, congratulations!,can't wait to see what the experts have to say about that one! Don't know too much about native copper culture stuff,But I can tell you right now that is NICE!what region are you from?Ok never mind just saw Minnesota
That's a beauty! Minnesota is in the west end of the dispersal region of Lake Superior area mined copper that was hammered into artifacts. Likely age... Approximately 1000- 4000 B.C. .
Do a search for "copper culture artifacts" or "old copper culture" to learn more.
There are fur trade era copper artifacts also but they're only sheet metal thick.
Awesome find!
Saw tooth base point These unique types of projectile point are less commonly found. There are fewer than 20 in the museum collection and they were found in both Michigan and Wisconsin. The size range is usually smaller, between 4 to 15 centimeters. The saw-tooth-base is an ingenious form of hafting, resulting in a very secure projectile.
From the above link............posted by Golddiver. When did you find it? Any dig pics or story of the find? Some people on here are real experts. See wha they say. Looks pretty cool to me.
Absolutely beautiful and I think one of the best relics I have seen in a while. Not putting others down or lessening the coolness factor but historically beautiful.......
