IMG_0449[1].webpFind this ring on the beach last night it looks gold but has 985 on the inside. I tested with acid test all the way to 22k and there was no dissolving of metal. could it be 23k :icon_scratch:

sounds like it was assayed at 23K, yes.

The ring is marked by the European gold jewelry standard and is .985 pure gold, nice find!!!

There's a European tourist that isn't as happy as you are at this moment!!!

What's the weight of the ring?

The weight is a nice 4.1 grams. Thanks for all the replies and some more to show from last night hunt and tonight hunt. The bracelet is silver weight in at 18 grams(last night). Tonight is the earring marked 925 but is gold in color :icon_scratch: my guess is gold over silver weight in at 4.7 grams.

Nice. Gives me hope down here on the beaches to the south of you.

CPD1302,
Where down south can you go so you don't have to pay for parking or get a ticket at night time to beach hunt?

Arabic or European gold standard % of 1000 --- 985 per 1000 parts or 98.5 % gold by weight

It is an Asian mark... not European... mostly... even though some things are made in Italy and a few European countries from time to time....
Also JFYI... 965 is Thai. based.

That looks like a registration #... not a karat #.

So it says Stratton England it's solid gold
I see new things everyday... thats what makes it interesting to me over the years... if it truly solid gold what was the method of testing ? ?

It does appear to be gold to me from here.
