Hunted a emigrant camp site off the Oregon trail

So I have done some research for the area I live and found out where emigrant would stop along the Oregon Trail. Its a odd spot in a flood plain I realized once I got to the location. I didn't find much in the 6 hours I spent hunting. Maybe that's because they only brought what was necessary for survival... I found some old lead from bullets, casings and tons of old and exteamly rusty cans. I did find a "peters 44-40" I was wondering the date range on that casing.
