Today was my 4th day ever metal detecting and I clocked in a couple hours which puts me at about 8 hours detecting total with my ace 250 and pro pointer. Today I had some great find especially..MY FIRST SILVER!!! Woooo. I found it next to some baseball bleachers. It has .925 on the inner band and hopefully a diamond. I also found some non silver clad and a Honda key. How can I find out if its a diamond? Will a jeweler do it?

Thanks guys!

Im getting way better at deciphering my machine. I can usually tell a coin/ring from most things like nails, large pieces of foil/aluminum etc. Some of thr targets 2 inches in the ground are a breeze now. I pinpoint on the 250, pull out my pro pointer and can usually find the target before even making my first dig.

The pro pointer is amazing!

Its rare, to find Dimonds In Silver But they Do Mount them That Way!!! Chug Great Find!!!:occasion14:

Also :icon_thumleft: on the Propointer red and I wont leave Home Without them Yes We Have 2

Sweet ring !

As already stated, it would be unusual to mount a diamond in silver, so odds are its not.

Thanks for the tip! A friend also told me the same thing. They said that silver is usually too soft and jewelers dont like using it to mount diamonds

Im also not just getting better and audibly deciphering good from bad targets, im also learning where the best places to dig are. I spend about an hour finding nothing but I used my brain and figured I should hunt under bleachers and behind them. Also the snack bar area grass (I was at a little league park). Im goin out for day 5 today. Im gonna spend a couple hours at a park where I found a wheat

Yes, it's probably not a diamond, but any jewelry store will test it for you.

since the price of gold has sky-rocketed, a LOT of silver jewelery is being made now with genuine stones. they are typically not very high quality stones, but genuine none-the-less. you could take that ring to a jeweler to test the stone, but it is rather pointless because one that size is nearly worthless

Yep, pawn shops can test it, if your by a mall of any kind, some will check for free and will even clean them for you. I found my first silcer a couple of months ago, the stones in it are real diamonds, so yes, test it, you never know, some people actually prefer silver, for the price, and how sturdy it is and for how it looks. needless, the ring is cute, and get it tested, who knows? Plus you can find out who the reputable jewelers are! Keep us posted, great find! Red

Your doing good for the time spent. Cool ring................HH
