Hi all, Last 10 days of my holiday ,i have been to a site i have been to many times over the years.Resently i got the go ahead to md and pan for gold on an old cornish mine claim and theres a old cottage and a heap of mines and gold working up the back.I looked at the site for about 5 years and every time i drove past i would always wonder if or maybe .Well sometimes wishful thinking comes true.About 3 weeks ago the place went on the market so i rang the owners and got the ok. ;D ;D ;D.Over the days i only got a few small penny weight nuggets. worked out to about 1 very 3 hours and man i dug some holes. The ground is real hard and i broke quite a few good old bottles i spoted too.Pipe clay set like concrete.

Heres a heep of pics of the small nuggets and a glass bottle of specks i found in the creek panning below the claim when it rains.Creek is a public reserve and only a miners right is required.I think about 5 years worth and some of these pieces you have seen in some of other panning threads.

History gold was discoved in 1851 and the local area produced 30 million ozs in last 160 years.Theres about 46 grams or nearly 1 and half ozs.

Tinpan-----Your the maaaaaan! way to go. My wife and I moved from the mineral belt in Colorado (spanish color red) and gave panning and detecting for nuggets a shot. Visiting some very remote and cool mines All I really could think was, Maaan, how did our ancestors do it? That is tough work! hats off to you!

You suck Tinpan ;D

They are decent size 'specks' thats for sure. I've panned in the Shoalhaven River and I can get up to 30 specks in a pan but they are so fine I'd be there for a month of Sundays and only have a few grams.

that glass bottle is also full of water that clearly makes those pieces look bigger than they look for real and i known we Victorians suck the rest of Australia keeps telling us lol

Hi all thanks for the info you gave the other day PDK

Due to copy write i cannot use the exact words

"i could clearly see the the gold dust on the boots of the miners as they can into the hotel"

Mark Twain 1895

Looks like you had an excellent holiday! Way to go on the gold and the old bottles ....Top bad you have to go back to work!

Awesome post and pictures TP! Love that color, or colour. HH, Mike

Great work once again, friend Tin!

Here's hoping that, like those miners Twain wrote about, you track in even more gold in the days ahead!

Nice pics of Summer down under :icon_sunny: We all wish we were there, especially when are high will be 5 on Friday :'( You are quite the adventurer, but the good thing is you find gold. Be carefull out there :icon_sunny:
