With many of you guys and gals heading out on vacations and if you are just looking for some closer spots to hit up for the weekends maybe we can all help each other out a bit. I thought I would start a thread.

I am headed to dive the San Marcos, The Comal and Canyon Lake in a few weeks for a small get away. I will be hitting some swimming areas and hang out spots. I am not taking any official vacations but I am looking for a few spots to head out to for the weekends. If you have any input it would be appreciated.

I have a canoe and a Hooka set up, Im not dive certified. Ive been to Sanmarcus a few times, they do allow water only detecting. but i just go eyeballing. id be intrested in another spot or 2 but been no where in texas clear water except san marcus. I was thinking beach hunting in canyon lake, you can in the fedreal parks but not the state parks.. Maybe late june or July

North Park at Canyon Lake is run by the Corps of Engineers. When you check in at the gate...ask them...most times it is OK to hunt...especially the water.
I dive the Comal...nice water temp and lots of stuff to find. I play it safe and walk around the Prince Ohms chute, flop over the fall and walk around the Schlitterbahn chute. There is a tube rental at the very beginning of the river that I use...it will cost you a tube rental to park there and get a ride back but well worth it....have walked back a few times...not good.
I have a honey hole spot if you have a full wetsuit, hood and gloves...if your interested Jason...send me a email.

Thanks for the input guys. My uncle works at a dive shop in San Marcos and has a few areas they they hit as well pretty much daily. They do not detect so it will be new to them.

Keith, nice finds for sure. You could open up one of those center kiosks at the mall with all of those sun glasses!

Have a good weekend,
Jason
