Greetings to all,

Open question to anyone who has an opinion on the matter. I am a beginner gold prospector and have decided to purchase a sluice. I did a lot of research on the internet, checked out more than few YouTube videos and had decided on purchasing a Keene A52 sluice, that is until I looked into the underflow sluices. Off hand, I would say they (underflows) appear much easier to operate.

I sure would like to hear the pros and cons of this sluice.

Thank you in advance...

EZ to do-simply buy the keene. Go to a good metal shop/OSH/Home Depot and find 1/8" punchplate. Buy enough to leave 12" above the first riffles. Buy 2-2" screws with 2 lockwashers and 4 nuts. These are your legs to adjust the height of the classifier. You want to cover the first couple of riffles---allowing at least 3/8" over the riffle top for proper cleaning. A tweak here and there and good to go and DON'T waste your hard earned money on convaluted tinkertoys. First pic shows a self height adjust dual classifier I use in all dredges to feed the under and the top also. Smaller down below and bigger above. Second pic is angle shot from within and yet another for a better ideas. Simple cut to fit as tight as possible and away you go and NOT your gold-John :headbang:

Awesome post John. :)

Here is a video that I shot using a Keene A52.
It shows that the sluice is forgiving as I did not classify.

Some say the larger rocks will knock the gold out but I still got good color. :)

Thank you gentlemen for your input and welcomed advice. Sounds like I cannot go wrong with the A52. Better stick to the tried and true, being new to all this.
