Indian Paint Bowl

I am looking for help in ideifining two artifacts I found as a young boy.
They were found on my property soon after my house was built back in 1960’s.
I have asked some people over the years what they think they are.
The consensus is paint bowls from the local Native American Indian that lived on Long Island.

Now that I am 53 and kept them for so long I would really like to find the answer.

One is in the shape of a foot, and the other is round. (Please see pictures.)
They even have some paint still inside!

Any help and direction would be very appreciated.

Look like a natural stone that they may have used.Why make something when it exist already.Lets see what everyone else says and maybe you will have your answers.

Whackjob, both of your stones are actually natural. The "foot" shaped one is proabaly not an artifact, but the other may have been used as a "paint bowl". It does look like it might have red ochre in it.

Joel, your piece may have been a Cap Stone for a Bow Drill. That would account for the heavy polish inside the bowl.

As requested here are some more pictures.

I can see the round bowl maybe natural stone, but not the foot.
It even has an arch.

Remember this was found on Long Island NY. NOT Mid West.
I can wet my finger and still use the paint today!

Yup...those look like paint pots to me.

Potato fields in Long Island are full of those, I found several paint pots identical to those as a kid and my father has a bunch too,. My Grandparents house is in downtown Greenport.

Well...., I have received no less then 8 Responses from so-called experts in the field.
Even the experts are 50/50 if they are real paint pots or not.

I thank everyone that posted a reply to this post.
I got more help from you Guy's then them.

I walk away with the thought experts my a--. :P
Don't ever pay for a licences expert appraisal!

I've had the same experience myself a few times..I have 1 point that I have shown to many so called experts at different shows and I have heard everything from late Paleo "Tallahassee Dalton" to woodland "Safety Harbor"
