Went to AZ for the week to visit the in-laws. Got out on did some hiking, went to some petraglyphs that were on a map, then just hiked around the desert for a while and found two small camp / village sites that I assume are Hohokam. Some pic's of the rock art. Oddly enough I think they're mostly desert big horn and there are very few deer. Found near the best water source for many miles in any direction. Enjoy.

Great shots! Makes me homesick, as I was raised in Arizona.

hi terry, not much been going on in the ldm forum lately
nice rock there

Cool Twitch, I always like the petroglyphs. If that's a water source you could look around and there should be some petroglyphs that were directional markers. Might be one there in the pic with the squiggle line and circle with 2 dots.

I found a lot of nice rock art when I lived in New Mexico. Not so much out east. Also cool finds. These glyphs were right on a natural water holding spot in the superstition mountains. I really enjoy hiking in the desert. Took the kids, they had a blast. It's hard to beat.

That is a "Snake" sign.

Thanks, Twitch & Terry, for posting such clear pics of petroglyphs and the happy boy too. I enjoyed seeing some petroglyphs close up when living in Arizona. Like TnMountains, I read this week about the foul vandals here in California hacking out slabs of petroglyphs and wrecking some of those they left behind-- undoubtedly they'll sell the stolen slabs on whatever black market they're part of --people who'll do anything for money will never stop until caught, sickening behavior. As is the behavior of the moneyed creeps who'll buy from them. Andi
