Hello! My name is Nick Amelio and I am 13! These are some of my finds found at Seminole war sites in Florida!

I've been a member of TreasureNet since the year of your birth and I don't remember ever seeing on TN a coin similar to the one you found.
I believe it is a 1/4 real from the mint at San Luis Potosi, Mexico That mint was opened in 1827 and closed in 1893.
The mint mark appears as a S.L.P. below the bust of Liberty. That series ran from only 1842 to 1857.

PS to previous. The Second Seminole War ended in 1842, a year before your coin was minted; and the Third Seminole War didn't begin until 1855.
Yes, the coin could have been lost in the 3rd SW, at least 12 years after it had been minted.

Thank you! Yes, I found the 1/4 reale at a fort site that was there from 1850-1858.
