Hi Folks,

A trivet is a type of thing to put pots on. Here is a
photo of one I found on the internet,

A while back I found this old thing,

Later on I cleaned it up,

It only had one leg. That perplexed me at first.
There did not seem to be anything broken,

It finally dawned on me that, that one leg is
designed to fit in the hole of a wood stove
burner,

I looked it up, and sure enough, they did make
wood cook stove trivets. They were sold with
some nicer stoves. They were seldom sold
alone.

Thanks fer l@@kin,

Thanks Tapdog. I had almost forgotten about these. My grand mother had a wood cook stove but I was lucky and never had to chop wood for it. I never found a Trivet either. Nice find....

Posted a couple years back on Trivets, I actually have 3, the third one is broken and have not restored it, but probably should. One of mine appears to have a Tudor Rose in the design. Mine appear to be trivets for Irons..

Have not seen trivets being posted, don't know if most get busted up, or they just was something that did not get left behind when a site was abandoned, since they do not seem to be a commonplace relic find.

I was 7yr old(1942) when we moved and finally got an old gas stove.I remember our wood stove and my grandmother (who raised me) cooking on it.And yes,she had trivets. Now days a lot of people collect trivets and use them as decorations in their house.

I have done electrolysis on a couple trivets and other stove parts. I don't know why, but cast iron takes 3 or 4 days to come clean. Axe heads and other iron relics will come clean after a day of cooking.
