  • Yup...We actually have 4 species of grouse...Sage, Sharptail, Blue and Ruffed...and also both chukkar and gray partridge (huns),...although our sage grouse are in serious decline. Wildfires, and overgrazing, have decimated our lowland sagebrush habitat, which the sage grouse depend on for survival. That sagebrush loss has also caused a major decline in our antelope herds, though they are slowly making a comeback. The increase in grassy habitat, caused by the wildfires has increased our sharptail numbers, though we still don't have the numbers Montana has. This is definitely a great place to live, though here in southeastern Idaho, the winters are really long. This is the high-elevation part of the state. I live at 4400', and there is very little country below that in this area.
