We were up by Blackhawk last year. Get ahold of Bill Chapman in Golden. His shop has plenty of supplies as well as knowledge of the area. http://www.goldendetectors.com
Also you will have a # of places along Clear Creek to pull over and pan between Golden and Blackhawk. It also sounds like you'll be there around the time of the Rush to The Rockies. http://www.eurekathc.com/index.html

Yes, we will be attending that hunt. Sounds like a good one.

The following is the best spot I feel to pan and sluice in this area. I have not visited it in a few years but I suspect nothing has changed since the land is owned by the public water company.

From 93 and 72 go west on 72 to Pinecliffe. From bridge go 1.6 miles. Turn left across bridge at cozy cabin sign. Go .3 mile and go across railroad. Parking on the right. After parking your vehicle, walk across the small bridge to the other side and down to the stream. Gold is in the gravels at stream level.

I have high banked here as well as dredged. Unfortunately the amount of cobbles was too much for my small dredge. No coarse gold here at all (like most of Clear Creek) just fine gold but the amount of gold you will find is a lot better than what you will find on Clear Creek.

Have fun
George

Thanks George, and others for some great information. It's a ways off but I hope to be able to post some pics of the trip. Thanks again.
