Thanks y'all it's in good supply where I'm at just trying to get the names down for this everything I'm finding.

What state are you in and what else on your list? btw, welcome to tnet!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm in northwest South Carolina Oconee county about 15 min drive to Georgia. I have also found a ton of pyrite, and the small red balls cat eyes i think little rubies i can't remember what there called off hand. I have been testing creeks in rabun ga totally different material from where i get my gold. It has a lot more dark heavies but no gold yet. The search continues lol.

Garnets? - hoping you have ever more successful outings, and keep us posted.

That's it garnets couldn't think of the name at the time. Heading out today for a full day of sluicing! Wish me luck, I'm gong to need it lol. At least it will be best weather I have had on the creek might hit 70! Thanks for the help.

Always remember that mica, pyrite, ect will break, flake, crush, smear...gold will never break, flake, crush, ect, it will only bend!!!! besure to watch your quartz for small gold nuggets clinging to it,,,our part of South Carolina has this type nuggets..Good Luck!

Hundreds of lbs of rock moved came down to that lol. At least i had fun and gained some experience. Wonder what that other rock is. It's pink and translucent. Tried scoping some bedrock but found nothing

I think your little pinkish rock is a fragment of Amethyst. Clear quartz, smoky quartz, amethyst tend to run in pockets in granite formations along with mica
(first pic you showed us). While certainly not as valuable as gold, it is rewarding to dig out pockets of crystals up on the hillsides. Wish I had a dime for every hour I spent digging crystals, Hoo Boy!

That bedrock in 2nd to last pic calls to me. Have you used a big pry bar to dislodge some chunks of bedrock and scraped the cracks clean? HH.

Got another picture of the bedrock just down from first pic. I did a little picking with a small pick but found nothing. Probably deep in the crack huh?

Yes, down to very bottom. I worked one crack, off and on for 3 seasons, always got beer money.

Thanks! Yea i was thinking i should put more gold in it lol now where it's that gold.....

I'm for sure going to get down in some of those cracks. Old timers mined the creek pretty good but I would bet money they didn't get those cracks
