Me and my buddy made a bazooka gold trap into a recirculating sluice/Highbanker. I love this set up. It was mainly designed for garage sluicing but it performed well in the field. I am going to get a bigger pump for the top bar so can blast that material through. The trap is at the link below. The video is a little shaky cause I was by myself.

The first gold pic is the clean out from the video. The second pic is from the bazooka gold trap but on a different day. IMG_0205.JPGIMG_0153.JPG

How does yours work? I can't tell from looking at it. It sure looks tough/durable.

Is the bazooka the it hing with sluices now? You dont even want to know what my setup is lol.

I really like it. It seems to work really well and you don't have to classify. That classify thing is a half truth cause in my video I am classifying. It's just an easier method of it. What's your set up? I really want to know.

normal sluice with not sure if its 1200 or 1400gph pool pump pulled from trash lol. Pump runs in to a 2 gallon square bucket the lets the water flow evenly over the sluice. The front of the sluice has wood 2 legs that pivot and are Height adjustable with a wing nut. everything i made it from is from junk in my garage. except the sluice which is a decent one.
I kinda want to make me one of these bazooka traps or a redneck version atleast ha lol.

That sounds like something to behold. If you can make one then Do it Kitt. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I was even surprised at how much flour or speck gold I was getting. Try it.

They are off center of the pipe about a 1/4 of an inch, shooting outward. I'll double check in the morning to make sure.

It works similar to the Bazooka gold trap sluice.

I have many different types of sluices but I am using this one just about exclusively now due to it's ease of operation, cleanup and ultra high recovery capability of even micro sized gold. Here in Indiana most all the gold is either fine, flour, or micro sized. pickers and nuggets are very rare. But just in case I added a nugget trap. (the red arrow is pointing to it in the last photo)

Since I built it in Sept. 2011, I have mostly just used it as a stream sluice. But found it works great as a highbanker as well. I haven't tried it with my trommel or 2.5" dredge yet but will do so in the spring just to see what happens.

Man good guy you did a great job on that sluice. Nice engineering. If I could build something that nice, I would have a metal bazooka. Lol

Great set-up. I love the Bazooka Sluice. Either my laptops color settings are off or you made your own rendition of the Bazooka out of sheet metal? I'm curious what kind of feed rate will that set-up handle and how many GPM does it take to quickly move the material?

It's made from aluminum sheet metal.
Feed rate depends upon water speed. I try to set up in fairly fast water and it will handle a #2 shovel full of material about as fast as you can shovel into it. However that gets tiring fast so I try to pace myself.

In slower water I just wait until the slick plate clears before adding another shovel full.

*Oops just realized you meant as a highbanker..........
I use a gasoline powered 6.5 hp pump with 108 GPM capability, run it at about half throttle and use 2 seperate ball valves to control the flow, one for the hopper spray bars and the other for the fluid bed supply tubes.

I set the flow through the spraybars to process material down the sluice as fast as I can shovel into the hopper. Then I adjust the flow to the fluid bed tubes to keep the material in the trap in a fluid state. If the trap gets loaded with black sand and starts to pack I increase the flow to the trap as needed but just enough to maintain a fluidized state. I know it's properly fluidized If I can slowly push a finger down through the material to the bottom of the trap without having to force it.

GG~
