Hello All, I have some time off next week and want to search out (brick and mortar) gold prospecting supply stores. My normal go to store is Pioneer Mining out in Auburn and want to search out some new stores.

Can you guys recommend a good store? I am located in he East Bay and willing to drive 2 hours in any direction.

Morning Joel,
Pioneer is the best all around prospecting shop I'm aware of in this area for all around prospecting gear, prospecting & detectors. Most other detector stores are mostly just that. In Grants Pass Oregon there is a good prospecting shop but that is more than 2 hours away. I know from experience that touching and feeling is much better than looking at a picture on the internet but you may just have to start your search for a more local store on the net and then bite the driving bullet and head for the closest one of those. Good luck on your search..........63bkpkr

Thanks 63bkpkr, I'm using what little Google skills I have to find other shops... If no shops, I'll head on over to Pioneer and make a side trip to Bear River.

Anyone been to Placerville Hardware? I heard they have a small inventory?

I heard there's a place in Colfax - contact 419GottaMinute as I think he works there.

You might try the store in Jamestown, CA. They have quite a large selection and day-long instruction outings on patented claims nearby. TTC

There"s a little one in Sacramento.....Fulton ave and El Camino ave...Think it is called gold mine?

Heya;

If you happen to come through Redding be sure to check out the Miners Cache, they are located off of Cypress Ave next to the cemetery.
They are open Wed-Sat. Here is their website. The Miners Cache | Gold Mining Equipment Supplier

If you need dive equipment you can also check out Howells Dive shop.
They use to have a lot of prospecting equipment but have gone more over to the diving side of things and art.

Any idea on the name of the store? I Googled Jamestown gold supplies and found lots of places that teach you how to pan, but can't find a store? :dontknow:

That would be
Columbia Mining & Equipment
PO Box 303
Jamestown, CA 95327 USA
1-209-984-3893
also a small one in Pine Grove just of Highway 88 is
49er Metal Detectors
14093-B Isish Town Rd.
Pine Grove, CA 95665 USA
1-209-296-3544
Good Luck. Mayor

I think it's called 'Gold Prospecting Adventures' at 18170 Main St. It's on the north side of the street at the west end of town. Easy to find as Main St is only about 3 blocks. Easy to spot.

Brent Shock is in Jamestown, and Calisdad gave his info, but I would deal with Rob if I were you

Thanks everyone for the information.

kuger - Thank you very much! I'll be heading out to 49er Mining Supplies next week

Brent still there? Haven't seen him in the store the last 3 times I've been in there. Great miner's "custume" he wears! Calisdad got it right. I have to try the new 49'r number. I went to the RV park he was supposed to be in a few years ago to find he already moved out of that location. TTC

I go to pioneer mining supplies in Auburn they're pretty good. Although one time I bought a gold scale there and it was over $60 and when I got home I found the same exact one online for about $10.. Lol I guess I should have looked online first xD

Yea there are mining supply stores in many towns, even Colfax but what are you looking for? If it's just to look around then hit Pioneer or the Gold Mine off of Fulton in Sac, then Colfax right on the main drag on your way to the Bear. It's a gun & gold mining store. I still have yet to go in there. If your looking for sluice boxes, South Yuba Mining Company on North Bloomfied rd in Nevada city makes good equipment for an excellent price & Spencer is one of my favorite fabricators also. Look him up here on the web. Then there are plenty of others like Heckler Fabrications in Roseville for whatever you may want or many other specialty shops for different pieces of Mining equipment. Heckler is a top notch fabricator, multi-generational Gold Miner. If you're looking for Bazooka as far as i know, you will have to buy from them directly. I talked with the owner for a long time one day & he has some great products for sale.

Reed - Thanks for all the information.
I ended up going to Placerville Hardware. They had a pretty good inventory of tools and sluice boxes.
I even picked up a Bazooka Gold Trap directly from Todd himself. Great guy and very helpful.

Well... We not a brick and motar store... and infact... we are a new in business. (Oct 2012) We are completely mobile. I am in the midst of putting all the products on our site that we carry... but we basically carry EVERYTHING. (Jobe, Proline, Snappy Grip, Falcon, Garrett... Mining equipment, Metal Detectors, Coin Supplies, Baseball card supplies, etc)

Somethings are stocked somethings have to be ordered. (Because we are a new company.) We also do "home parties" for the people who would like to earn major discounts on their equipment or even free equipment. However, I am very proud to say we are growing fast.

Our webiste is MAGMA FORCE Prospecting Supplies - Home and we are centralized out of Stockton, CA. We do have sales in parkinglots up near Colfax and Coulterville from time to time.

Happy Hunting!
