Prospectors at 9PM EDT on The Weather Chanel 362 on Direct TV. Maybe they know how properly present part of our "hobby". Frank

I'll check it out. It would be a pleasure to see a show which depicted our hobby in a positive manner instead of a bunch of clowns ravaging the land with profit as their sole motivation.

Thanks I'll check it out, although it looks
like it's more a Gem hunting show with drama about weather related problems
and accusing others
who do the same thing of being Thieves,.

Hopefully I'm wrong

roflmao, you're probably dead on Jeff:laughing9:

My problem is the weather channel has been off here all day! Please post what it is like. I think the first is about gems, but the targets on each show may be different. Frank...

Well, at 9pm the Fox news channel died and the weather channel came on. I think Direct TV has a bad transponder on the sat and they are rotating programing. WELL, I got to see prospectors. What a change from diggers. They didn't wear advertising T shirts, They spoke English, and you didn't expect to see cameras and sound booms. It all looked natural. They didn't hump a rock. The most extreme thing was raised eyebrows when they told him the rock was worth $5g's. The whole thing was realistic! The gems were actually dug out not planted and there were no archies around directing things. I only wish I had done better in geology in college. I had a Chinese professor and I couldn't understand a word he said. Frank...

I have to admit,I actually enjoyed this show. Besides the lightning storm, there was no drama. I got worried when the excavator family said they were spending 2,000 a day,I thought oh god here we go,its gold rush 2,but it turned out okay.

Good to know the drama was at a minimum.
I just got up 30 min's ago so not sure when I'll sit and watch it.

Bad thing with gems they are like diamonds only worse.

they are only valuable to the dealer selling them in a piece of jewelry.
If you turn around to sell that piece of jewelry, the same jeweler
would pop the stone out weigh & buy the metal.

only jewels with value are the ones in old watches, :(

and of course the gigantic ones worn by Snotty old Women
who carry dogs in their purses at parties,
and talk with opera voices :tongue3:

ok now that all my downer stuff has been said :laughing9:
I sat and watched both shows. although the values they quote,
may be enticing , by guess if they get anywhere near 10% of quoted values
from buyers they are lucky.

my guess quoted prices are guestimates on what jewelers will try to
convince the women in their stores the value is, after they have been cut, polished & mounted.

Anyway I enjoyed both shows & only started nodding off during the last 10 minutes
of the second show.

I'll leave it programmed in to my DVR to record new shows.
will never watch a rerun of it though.

Well they weren't ripping up the backyard of a retirement community so

They could have yelled BOOM BABY and woke me up.
In there defense it was past my bedtime (street lights were on)

I live close to this area and have hunted crystals for a long time around here! I have met Rich before, buit I know his brother a lot better (hey Scruff!) My biggest question is "where do you sell this stuff?" cause I have a big collection.

Sounds really boring with fake gem stone values.

I wonder if it was canceled already.

Hasn't been on last 2 Weeks

Last week they said it was not on due to storm coverage, but they made it seem like it would be back.

It is another hobby of mine, so I enjoyed it. Plus, they didn't act like idiots
