Hi all,

New to boards but long time reseller, thrift/garage sale/estate sale/auction buyer.

I found a necklace marked "24KGB" today for a $1 at a thrift store. It was a first for me with the KGB marking. Researched it and now know it means gold bonded.

My main question is, I also saw someone say that it still has 1/20 of the gold value. So it weighs 13.7 grams * 1/20 = .685 grams of 24k gold. Is that accurate or just bad info?

Thank you and I have really enjoyed reading this section so far!

Bonded isn't guaranteeing the percentage. I've seen gold filled in 1/6, 1/10, 1/20, and 1/40 gold. If it isn't quantified, it's probably on the thin side. That's as long as it isn't really an E instead of a B. If it looks good you might do better on ebay than scrapping.

And WELCOME to T-Net!

Awesome, thank you so much for the info. That's what I figured when I found it. It's a decent necklace and it will definitely end up on eBay.

Thank you!

Thanks for the site, bookmarked for sure.

I seen one of these today in a resale store.. Left it lay. But man did it stick out like a sore thumb in the jewelry rack.

Diggs, you're a gem for posting that link. Goes into my research file.
