newbie in md

Hey
Yup another newbie here....I was wondering if any one can give me any info. on the 1236-x2, I had a garrett over 15 yrs ago ,never used it much, then my son broke it.Now that the kids are grown and gone, I want to try it again.....Was wondering if the 1236-x2 would be good for a newbie to start out with......... Im going to use it around the beaches here in maryland......
