Okay I have got my coinalyzer and have started separating copper and zinc. It works pretty good but not 100% accurate. No matter how I try to adjust it I still get some copper in the rejects and some zinc in the copper side???? Does anyone use this exact separator??? I saw on youtube a picture of a rydale machine which looked to be using the same electronic mechanism but with a lot nicer feed tray etc... Is this the same mechanism that rydale ueses in its machine?
How accurate is the rydale????
On mine it separates pretty good but like I said not perfect. Then when I rerun the rejects I usually find about 10 copper or so in about 750 zinc. When I try to rerun the copper though it seems to dump large quanities into the reject side????? I don't get it??? Why would it not send it back to copper side like it did the first time???
Here is a pic of the coinalyzer I bought. If this is the same unit rydale uses why does it not work as accurately or is this normal???

If you don't mind...where did you purchase it and how much does it run? :dontknow:

No, that's a different comparitor than on my Ryedale. I've had a copper get pulled into the zincoln pile but for some reason it was a 1941 wheat penny. Didn't get why it got separated to the zinc pile. I even put the wheat back through and it went in the zinc pile. Other wheats were fine. The only other times when the copper goes in the zinc pile is when they bouce off the cardboard penny boxes I have below them. They get spit out into close areas relative to eachother.

I have no tgrouble with my ryedale. the only thing is that it is not the copper side and the zinc side. it is the cipper side, and the reject side. Anything htat doesn't match exactly to the copper side goes to the other side, which is the reject side.

And that answers why the 1941 copper went to teh reject side. Copper pennies before 1943 (the steelie year) were a little unstable in their composition. So sometimes they get rejected. that's why when I run my machine I WATCh the reject side as I sort, looking for the old looking cents. I check to make sure I am not missing any older wheats. It happens at times, and i find them, and just let it run as I keep my eyes open.

I think the ryedale is a MUCH better sorter. :-)

I have been using a coinalyzer for some time now, and I experienced the same thing when I first bought it. These "misses" happened largely before I got the machine "dialed in" using the adjustment feature. The key is to make it less sensitive so that it is less discriminating. It will still occasionally miss old Canadians from the 40's, but I just watch for those and pick them out when they come. Another key is not to drop the coins too fast. This will increase the accuracy due to the charge only going through one coin and not multiple coins that are touching.

When I bought this machine I had previously been sorting by hand. This increased my ability to sort by 10 fold. I am upgrading to a Ryedale after the first of the year which will increase my sorting ability another 10 fold...so very excited. Good luck and HH!

Thanks all. I bought the separator on ebay for about $55.00 and it separates as fast as you can hand feed them into the coin slot on top. I'm sure a rydale would be better and I am willing to buy one but I have left two emails and have not recieved a call or email back from them????? I wish they had a listed contact number and not just a email.
