Hey there folks.
Thought Iād do a little review on the 440.
I met a guy here in town that owned a couple 440 detectors.
We finally made it out to a couple parks. Iām a long time Whites MXT user, but wanted to try out the ālight weightā 440.
The MXT is a heavy tank compared to the 440.
I was really curious as to how the multi-iq would do.
We went to a couple parks I had hunted in the past, but still turns up modern clad regularly.
I was curious to see if the 440 would pull out some deep targets the old MXT had missed.
Let me start by saying ā18ā is the foil number on this machineā¦
Lots and lots of can slaw. Coin mode was noise. I quickly learned to program custom mode and blanked that notch out.
The following targets were all 20-25 VDI. Mostly all modern dimes and copper pennies. However, deep cans cam in at 27-29.
Which throw me a off a bit looking quarters. (None were found this trip)
Over all, the 440 seemed to be a stable machine.
but Iām not sure I like VDI range being so short. The MXT goes from 1-99, where the 440 is 40 I believe?
This seems to bunch more targets in to one range. Where the MXT is āeasier to readā or discriminate a when the target is consistent VDI.
Sure, this isnāt the best method to find all the good stuff. But it helps you cherry pick when time is limited.
All good detectorist know, dig all the āgoodā beeps. But thatās not always feasibl.
Over all, Iād say the 440 was a good machine. Definitely recommended.
I canāt give a good comparison to my MXT as Iāve used it for 13 years now.
And the 440 Iāve only used about 4 hours.
